Dorothy Jean Williams, 91, Independence, MO passed away March 22, 2017. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Tuesday, March 28 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64055. Dorothy was born March 10, 1926 to Floyd Sr. and Pearle (Burns) Merriott in Clinton, MO. After her family moved to the Independence area she became a life-long resident. She was a member of the Waldo Restoration Branch and a member of the Prayer Group. She worked at Hallmark for eleven years and was a huge fan of the Royals, Chiefs and Starlight Theater.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her son, Michael Dean Williams; brothers Floyd Merriott Jr. and James Marion Merriott. She is survived by nieces Pam Humphreys and husband Willie, Cleveland, MO; JoEllen Brown and husband Ron, Independence, MO; Robin Bock and husband Larry, Kearney, MO: Phyllis Ganaden and husband Bob, Polo, MO; nephew Floyd Merriott, III, Sugar Creek, MO all of whom Dorothy looked upon as her own children; brother Howard Lee Merriott and wife Lila, Tumwater, WA, niece Jeana Finch and husband Steve; nephews James Merriott Independence, MO; Marty Merriott, Tumwater, WA and niece Denise Merriott, Olympia, WA.
