Jodi Ann Williams, a courageous woman, passed away peacefully after a long battle with ovarian cancer at the age of 51 on Sunday, July 11, 2021 with her family by her side. Jodi was born to Richard and Cindy Howard on March 24, 1970 in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jodi was fearless, had a heart of gold and absolutely loved life. After graduating from Raytown High School, Jodi pursued her nursing career at Metropolitan Community College - Penn Valley. She worked for Fresenius Medical Care for more than 20 years, most recently as an Acutes Dialysis Nurse Manager. Jodi never met a stranger. She enjoyed traveling and would make lifelong friends at each destination. Aruba was by far her favorite place to visit. Jodi was a busy soul; it seemed nothing could get her down. She was the rock for her family, always tried to remain optimistic and, even on her worst days, found the strength to keep pushing forward. Jodi loved her family fiercely and made it a priority to live every day to the fullest. Her favorite pastime was cheering on the Kansas City Chiefs with her family, and she never missed an opportunity to shimmy for her “husband,” Travis Kelce. She also enjoyed the casino, bowling, playing bingo, lounging by the pool and watching chick flicks on Lifetime. Jodi was the life of the party and would light up any room with her presence. She will be missed beyond measure by her family, coworkers and many beloved friends.
Jodi is survived by her beloved husband, Dale Williams; daughter, Kay-Leigh Lawrence (Jason); sons, Tyler Scheffler (Jayme), Ryan Scheffler (Tiffany), John Scheffler and Gavin Mock; step-daughter, Jessica Williams; sister, Holly Casares (Carlos); brother, Rick Howard (Ashley Loveall); grandchildren, Jaycee, Wyatt, Carter, Bryer, Ava, Emmalynn, and Elias; nieces, Courtlynn, Gabriella, Adrianna, Celena and Kelsie; nephews, Carlos Jr., Josh and Gage; step-mother, Debbie and her bonus family. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lucy Hoffman; mother, Cindy Howard; and father, Richard Howard.
A visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 16 at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence. Jodi’s funeral service will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 17 at the Elks Lodge in Blue Springs with burial to immediately follow at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence. The family has asked family and friends to wear Chiefs attire on Saturday and join them in celebrating Jodi’s life at the Elks Lodge after the ceremony. She requested a “ton” of pink flowers at her service. Any monetary donations can be made in memory of Jodi to the American Cancer Society.
