Margaret V. Williams, 94, of Independence, MO went to be with Her Lord and Savior on October 23, 2016.
Margaret was born on August 3, 1922 in Blue Springs, MO to Raymond W. and Ella Maurine (Boman) Wyatt. She graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1941 as Salutatorian.
Margaret married Paul D. Williams on June 15, 1940. They enjoyed 27 years of marriage until his passing. To this union were born four children: Sandra, Terry, Karen and Kimberly. Through their faith and love of God they set an example for their children. A special memory was seeing all four of their children accept the Lord and be baptized. In addition to raising her family Margaret worked for Englewood Gift and Jewelry, Minka Tool Sales and Dr. Glade Whitworth and Dr. William Gosnell Optometry. Margaret has been a member of Maywood Baptist Church since 1948 - over 68 years. Through the years, Margaret served in Sunday School as the Director of the Primary Department for seven years and later as Director of the 10 yr.-old Department for twenty years. She was also a Leader in Training Union, WMU member, Senior Adult Director, and a member of the Senior Choir. She was a great inspiration to others by her example of faith, kindness and love. Margaret was a wonderful cook and known for her gracious hospitality. She enjoyed writing and sending notes of appreciation and encouragement to family and friends. She was talented in crafts and made beautiful hand-made gifts to share with others. Margaret was a caregiver to her mother and youngest daughter, Kim. She met many obstacles and heartaches in this life but with God’s help, had strength to conquer them.
Over the last 14 years she enjoyed her residency at Glendale at the Mansions in Independence, MO. She met wonderful people there whom she loved and called dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul D. Williams, daughter Kimberly McNally, parents and, brothers Ray, Tom, Ed and Clifford Wyatt.
She is survived by children Sandra Whitworth, Phoenix, AZ; Paul Terry Williams and wife Connie, Trinity, TX; Karen McElroy and husband Woody, Independence, MO; grandchildren Mark Whitworth and wife Dena, Lisa Rubin and husband Eric, Sheree Marzka and husband Eddie, Paula Holcomb and husband J.T., Joshua Leaming and wife Whitney; great-grandchildren Timothy Whitworth and wife Angela, Tiffany Schimming and husband Scott, Kristina Mathis and husband Trevor, Kristopher Whitworth, Kyle Whitworth, Nathan Rubin, Lilyana Geurin, Aiden Phillips; great-great- grandchildren Mahala, Madison and Makenna Whitworth, Xavier Bingham and Calvin Schimming; step-granddaughters Cheryl McElroy, Dana Froehlich; step-great-grandsons Andrew Breshears and wife Quartnee; Anthony Breshears and wife Ashley; step-great-great-grandchildren Preston, Libby, Brady and Shyanne Breshears, Grace Colbert and Halee Lester.
A visitation will be held Friday October 28, 2016 from 1:00-2:00 p.m., with funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. She will be laid to rest in Blue Springs Cemetery. Contributions may be made to Maywood Baptist Church in her memory. A big “Thank You” to Crossroads Hospice for their tender loving care.
