Nancy Ann Williams, of Independence and Sunrise Beach, MO, passed away June 13, 2014, at NorthCare Hospice House at North Kansas City Hospital after a lengthy battle with complications of a stroke. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family. The Memorial Service will take place 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m., on Monday, June 16, 2014 at the Chapel. Nancy was born June 9, 1936 in Kansas City, MO, the daughter of Dr. & Mrs. James B. Sherry. Nancy graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1954, and attended Kansas University, with a Major in Interior Design, and was a member of AOPi Sorority. Nancy was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and truly loved her family. In 1963, she moved to Camp Lejuene, North Carolina with her husband and daughter. In 1965, she moved to Independence and became very involved in volunteer and civic activities. She served as Director of the 1859 Jail and Museum, and was a member of the Jackson County Historical Society. Nancy was an active member of Independence Junior Service League, and the sisterhood of PEO, and a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Independence. Later she became know as the “Angel Lady ”, or “Angel Collector” as her home showed off her collection with angels in every room. Nancy enjoyed managing her homes, and entertaining family and friends, and spending as much time as possible at the Lake of the Ozarks. Nancy was a travel agent for many years and enjoyed traveling to all 50 states, and many foreign countries. In her later years she was a bookkeeper for Mary Ann’s Fashion Boutique. Perhaps Nancy’s favorite place was New Mexico. She enjoyed nothing better than the azure blue skies on a clear day. She was particularly fond of the twinkling night lights of Albuquerque, and visiting Santa Fe. Nancy had a strong love of life, and a strong will to live to the very end. She is preceded in death by her parents and a son, Christopher Williams. Nancy is survived by; her husband of 56 years, Dr. Terry Williams of Independence; daughter, Sherry Johnson, husband Dr. Mark Johnson; grandchildren, Ryan Johnson and Courtney Johnson, all of Albuquerque NM; and sister-in-law, Sondra Williams of Kansas City, KS.
