Robert LeRoy Williams, 86, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Monday, December 1, 2014, surrounded by family. A visitation will be held from 10:00 -11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 4th at South Crysler Community of Christ; 3100 S. Crysler Ave, Independence, MO. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Floral Hills Cemetery, Kansas City, MO.
Bob was born June 28th, 1928 in Kansas City, MO to James and Clara Agnes (Laughery) Williams. After high school he did welding for Benson’s and eventually earned the title of Welding Engineer at Welders Products and Services where he worked for 28 years, before retirement in 1994. He married Dolores (Waage) on November 15, 1947 and together they raised two beautiful daughters. He was an extremely hard worker, building his own house and helping his children with household repairs. Bob was also a talented musician who could sing and play the piano and organ by ear. His hobbies include bowling, crossword puzzles, fishing, and traveling to places like Hawaii with his wife and friends. As a devoted Christian he donated over 150 hours welding the cross as seen on the outside of the Community of Christ Temple. He held the office of Priest in the Community of Christ Church and was a leader of the Zion’s League dedicated to youth ministry, as well as a Sunday School Teacher. For thirteen years he volunteered at St. Mary’s Hospital working with stroke patients in rehabilitation. Many will remember him as a really good person who often had sayings like “A place for everything and everything in its place” or “Good enough for who it’s for.” Bob is loved, well-respected, and will be missed.
He leaves behind wife of 67 years, Dolores of the home; daughter Patricia Ann “Patt” Tosser (James) of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter Debra “Debi” Kay McClintock (Dale, Jr.) of Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren, Michele Tosser-Smith (Logan); Shayna McClintock-Mansell (Gary); and Jason McClintock; great grandchild, Charles E. Goodwin IV, and baby Mansell on the way; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepfather, William Rothermill, and ten siblings.
