Edna Frances Willis, 86, of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, January 4, 2015. A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 6, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Edna was born July 18, 1928 in Armstrong, MO, as the oldest of four children to Lemule B. and Elizabeth (Robb) Magruder. Edna married in 1952 and moved to Lincoln, NE where she worked for 17 years packing delicious treats at Russell Stovers Candies. She later divorced in 1961. She also worked for Hygain Electric, Westinghouse in Jefferson City and cleaned offices in Missouri’s capital building. She retired at the age of 62. When she was not hard at work, she was hard at play and enjoyed bowling in leagues and shuffle board with friends. She frequently went to shows performed by her musically talented daughter. Edna is remembered for her fun spirit.
She leaves behind daughter, Linda Mackie (Deb) of Independence, MO; son, Ken Magruder (Connie) of Belton, MO; sister, Sarah Bassnett of Jefferson City, MO; brother, Jim Magruder of Carrollton, MO; grandson’s, Alan Magruder and Kris Marcoe; great grandchildren, Sara and Quinton; and four great great grandchildren. Edna was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Betty Kneable. The family encourages contributions to The Groves Hospice of Independence, in her memory.
