Fred Wilson

Fred O. Wilson, born April 14, 1911, in Warrensburg, MO, died March 29, 2014, at the home of his middle son in Independence, MO where he had lived for just over 3 years. He was 102 years, 11 months and 15 days old. He was the oldest of 9 children. The 8 younger children were all dead over five years before his death. On July 17, 1938, he married Opal L. (Ballantyne). To this Union was born three sons. Carl F. Wilson who married Beverly A. (Strick). They had two sons. Wilbur N. Wilson who married Linda K. Elmore and they had two sons, also. Dale C. Wilson who married Mary E. “Betty” (McCracken). They had a son and a daughter. Opal died on July 29, 1989, after they had been married 51 years and 12 days. Fred married Zora (Choate) on February 15, 1991. Zora died on Thanksgiving day, November 25, 2010. Fred and Opal had 6 grand children, 5 boys and 1 girl; 9 great grandchildren, 6 girls and 3 boys. He was expecting his first great great grandchild later this year. Fred also had 2 step great grandchildren, both are boys. Grandson, Sean D. Wilson, died on July 10, 2011, at the age of 45. A visitation will be held Friday April 4, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Carson Speaks Chapel 1501 W Lexington Ave. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, at the chapel.
