Harry “Joe” Windhausen, 90, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, January 17, 2018 at his home. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be held at 2pm on Monday, January 22 at the chapel. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery.
Joe was born on November 9, 1927 in Corder, MO to Harry J. Windhausen, Sr. and Elizabeth Windhausen (Bear). After finishing high school, he joined the United States Air Force. He was honorably discharged. He worked for Fruehauf Trailor Corp. On June 5, 1965 he married Yvonne Wilhelm. In his spare time he enjoyed woodworking, stained glass, restoring automobiles and playing golf. Most of all he enjoyed time with his family. Joe was also a member of Susquehana Baptist where he served many years as Deacon and Trustee.
He will be remembered by his wife of 52 years, Yvonne Windhausen of Independence, MO; son James Windhausen of California; daughters Cathy Raney and husband Johnnie of Inverness, FL, Stacy Crandall and husband Chris of Independence, MO; son David Windhausen and wife Stephanie of Lees Summit, MO; grandchildren Jodi Vickery, Brad Raney, Ben Crandall, Eric Crandall, Kyle Crandall, Stephen Veach, Parker Windhausen, and Hollie Windhausen; 10 great-grandchildren plus many other extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carl, Howard, and Charlotte. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Susquehana Baptist Church.
