Gerald S. Winholtz of Blue Springs, MO, passed away at home on September 18, 2013 at the age of 101 years. Visitation will be at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Monday September 23rd from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on, Tuesday, September 24, 2013 at the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 5555 Valley View Rd, Blue Springs, MO
Gerald was born in Ogden, Utah on July 3, 1912 and the family moved to Independence in 1945. He was ordained an Elder as a young man and was Pastor of the R.L.D.S. Church in Ogden Utah, and continued as an Elder at the Stone Church in Independence serving as a group pastor and counselor to the Pastor. He has been a faithful servant and Elder in the Remnant Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He worked most of his life as an accountant, first for the Norris Grain Company in Kansas City, and then the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital where he retired as Comptroller in 1977. His main interests were the establishment of Zion, and preservation of the Constitution of the United States. He also enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, woodworking, doing flourishing Spencerian Script Penmanship, and fitness exercise.
He was married to Ella Ultican on May 12, 1940, and they celebrated 66 years of marriage before she passed away in 2006. They moved to Independence in 1945. In addition to their two children, Barbara Starr, and Mack Winholtz, they were foster parents and guardians to three special needs children for almost twenty years.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Jennette White, Miriam Yale, and brother, Wilford Winholtz, and a grandson, David Charles Starr.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Starr, son, Mack Winholtz (Arlene), five grandchildren, Bryan Starr (Cheryl), Gerry Starr (Debbie), Kit Starr (Mandy), Kristina Winholtz Pearson (Dan), and Angela McFarland (Paul). He also leaves thirteen great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He will be dearly missed by many friends, and his family.

Interment will be at Mound Grove Cemetery in Independence.
