Shirley S. Winkinhofer, 77, Independence, MO passed away Feb. 1, 2014. Services will be 10 am, Sat., Feb. 8 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 9 am Sat. before the service at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association Heart of America Chapter, 3846 W. 75th St., Prairie Village, KS 66208. Shirley was born Nov. 1, 1936 in Independence, MO and graduated from Central High School. She worked at Armco Steel for twenty-eight years before retiring in 1985. She was best known for her ceramics shop, Wink’s Ceramics, which she owned and operated from her home for over forty years. She taught ceramics classes and served as a judge at many competitions. She was a member of the Ceramics Guild and Community of Christ Good Shepherd Congregation. She was also a painter and gardener. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband George Winkinhofer, son Kenneth Winkinhofer, sister Betty Stover and brother Robert Stover. She is survived by daughter Sherry Winkinhofer; granddaughter Elizabeth Winkinhofer, both of Smithville, MO; cousins Jim VanArtsdalen, Georgetown, TX; Margaret Flippin, Omaha, ME; Viola Berry; John Stevenson; Jim Resch, all of Blue Springs, MO; Jan Jones; and Pat Cook both of Independence, MO.
