William "Bill" Winkler, of Phoenix, Maryland, went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2023. He was 73 years old.
William “Bill” was born April 19, 1949 to Henry Alfred Winkler and Dolores Winkler in Kansas
City, MO. He attended Rosedale High School in Kansas City, KS.
Bill served in the Navy from 1969-1970 in the engine room aboard the USS America CVA66
during the Vietnam war.
Bill met Goldie by chance when he and his friend came to her house to pick up her sister who
was dating Bills friend. Goldie just happened to be sitting outside when Bill and his friend
arrived. The second time Bill and his friend were going out, Bill asked Goldie’s sister if she
could set him up with Goldie. The rest is history. They were married a little more than 50 years.
Bill was a good father, husband, brother, uncle, friend and provider for his family.
Bill was living his dream driving a truck for a living. He drove for Werner Enterprises for 27
years. He received an award for driving over 2 million miles accident free.
Bill enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, fixing things, cats, trucks and going on road
trips with Goldie and Jennifer.
Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dolores Winkler and his brother Jimmie
Patrick. He is survived by his beloved wife Goldie, his children Jennifer Winkler and Michelle
Knobel and his sisters Helen Distatio and Mary Tallman.
