Johnny Ralph Wiss, 81, of Warrensburg, MO, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014. A visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m Monday, June 16, at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at Floral Hills, Kansas City, MO.
Johnny was born April 20, 1933 in Kansas City, MO to Ralph Ebbie and Myrtle (Love) Wiss as one of three children. He attended the 9th grade before starting work to support his family during difficult economic times. 1951, he enlisted and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. Upon his discharge in 1957, he returned to work for Montgomery Wards. He met and married Marcella (Edwards) on April 5, 1959. That same year, he started with General Motors Leed’s plant where he worked for thirty years before retirement. He is remembered as a hard working but devoted husband and father who gave everything he could for his family’s care. Johnny is loved and will be missed.
He was preceded in passing by his beloved wife of 50 years; an infant brother; and sister, Mary Lavaughn. He is survived by his son, David Wayne Wiss and wife Donita of Independence, MO; grandsons, Jonathan and Donovan Wiss of Warrensburg, MO; and granddaughter, Victoria Stone of Independence, MO.
