Taylor Witthar, age 37, passed away unexpectedly at this home on Monday, August 30, 2021. A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 18 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052.
Taylor was born December 22, 1983 at the Independence Sanitarium, Independence, MO to Jeffrey Kenneth Witthar and Kimberly Sue Witthar. A lifelong area resident, Taylor graduated from Truman High School.
Family celebrations were always a big part of Taylor’s life – and he could count on being with his entire family at Grandma Goose’s (aka Carol Sue Bass) home on all birthdays and holidays for feasts and fun. He especially enjoyed times with his brother Schon and cousins Zachary and Cody, who were like brothers to him.
Although Taylor’s life had a series of ups and downs, he had no doubt that his proudest accomplishment was the birth of his son, Christopher! Taylor loved spending time with his son and telling others about what a great kid Christopher is. Taylor gave the credit to Sala, Christopher’s mother, who was always there when he wasn’t.
Taylor was employed by Menard’s in Independence. He loved his work and flourished there. Recently he was accepted into the company’s advanced employee program. The family wishes to express its deep appreciation to the company and Taylor’s co-workers for giving him a second chance for their support and encouragement during his tenure there. It was one of the most meaningful experiences in his life.
In his recent turnaround, Taylor moved into his own apartment with the help of the Englewood Church. Taylor was happy to share it with everyone, and he was able to show it of to his Witthar family on the day before he passed. The guys were able to laugh and tell stories. In a major move forward, Taylor even joked about his disability – the result of a 4th of July accident that resulted in the loss of fingers on his right hand.
Taylor’s life came full circle on the weekend before he died. He spent precious time with his dad, brother, and son – just the four of them – on his dad’s boat at the Lake of the Ozark. No one could ask for a better memory!
Taylor’s life is a beautiful story of resilience and redemption.
Taylor is survived by his mother, Kimberly Sue Witthar; father Jeff Witthar; brother Schon Witthar; son Christopher Witthar and Christopher’s mother Sala Ahloe.
He is also survived by his grandparents Carol Sue Bass and Chris and Karol Witthar; aunts Michelle Quick and Stacia Quick; uncle Bill Witthar; cousins Zachary Quick and Cody Hayes.
