JoAnn Wolfer, 75, of Independence, MO passed away December 30, 2014. A celebration of JoAnn’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, at the Northland Abundant Life Worship Center. Memorial contributions may be made to the church food pantry. JoAnn was born June 9, 1939 in Hays, KS to Welsley Sr. and Leona (Derks) McQueen. She was an accomplished painter, active in her church and loved traveling with her family and friends. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. You would be hard pressed to find a kindly, more loving soul. She never judged, but instead, was loving and accepting to all, and always left a chair at the table and a glass of tea. JoAnn will be dearly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, James Wolfer; and son-in-law, Blaine Saunders. She is survived by her children, Michele Saunders, Tony Wolfer and wife Cheryl, Margie Hughes and husband Tony, Kelly Wolfer, Jeff Wolfer and wife Carrie; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; one sister, Marylou Caenepeel and husband Albert; two brothers, Wesley Jr. and wife Carol McQueen, Jim McQueen and wife Jane; as well as many nieces, nephews, church family and long time friends.
