Florence E. Wood

Florence E. Wood, 97, of Independence, MO passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 26th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service from 9-10:00 a.m.. Burial will take place in Mound Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grain Valley Restoration Branch Congregation, 32811 E. Truman Rd., Grain Valley, MO 64029. Florence was born November 14, 1908 in Independence, MO to Henry and Lillian (Fletcher) Ballinger. Mrs. Wood was a dedicated believer in the Lord and is described as a beautiful example to others. Florence and her husband enjoyed making crafts and attending shows to sell their items. She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Patty and Ordean Eklund, Carol and James Atherton; 9 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren; sister Sue Bogue; special nephew Forest Ballinger; and many other relatives and friends. Florence was preceded in death by her husband Cecil Wood in 2003 and her great-grandson Stephen D. Friend III in 2001.
