Wayne Eldon Woodcock, 92, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on March 4, 2018. Wayne was born December 11, 1925 in Norfork, AR to Joel and Mattie (Thornton) Woodcock. He joined the United States Marines and served from March 1944 to Jan 1945. He then married his beloved wife, Donna Preble on June 29, 1946 in Hot Springs, SD. Wayne worked construction until he retired at the age of 62. Once retired, he became bored and reentered the workforce as a greens keeper at Stayton Meadows golf course. He enjoyed being outside watching the golfers as he mowed and took great pride in the job he did. Throughout his life, he had many dogs which he loved and always enjoyed watching various birds and wildlife outside his home. Wayne is preceeded in death by his siblings, Willie, Floyd, Ida, Ada, Hester, Dollie, Thurman, Minus, Thelma and Estel. He is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Donna; two daughters, Delila Mathia and her husband, Bruce, and Lori Cantrell and her husband, Doyle; four grandchildren, Michael Mathia, Sarah Mathia, Matt Cantrell and Ben Cantrell; three great grandchildren; two nieces, Esta Lee Lackey and Norma Dean Horn; as well as one nephew, John Staggs. Per his wishes, no service will be held. Family requests in lieu of flowers a donation to a charity of your choice.
