Frances Martha Worden, 96 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020. Cremation is planned with private services at a later date. Frances was born in Grandview, MO on September 29, 1923 and graduated from West Port High School in Kansas City, MO. She was married to Morris E. Worden, Jr. on June 21, 1942; they were married 59 years at the time of his death in 2001. Frances worked as a Personnel Specialist for the Kansas City, VA Medical Center for 28 years. She was certified as a Braille Transcriber by the Library of Congress on December 11, 1985, volunteering for the School of the Blind, Kansas City, KS for 34 years. Frances lovingly transcribed over 1,000 books which included children’s novels, instruction manuals on cooking, knitting, piano playing and text books on science and foreign language in Spanish, French and German. She is survived by; 3 daughters, Martha J. Pack, Janet I Parks and A. Lynne Madsen; 8 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Morris Worden, Jr. and a son, Edward Worden. Donations may be made in her name to the School of the Blind, 1100 State Ave., Kansas City, KS 66102.
