Irene M. Wrabec, 86, of Sugar Creek, MO died Wednesday, May 25, 2011 at her home in the arms of her Son and Granddaughter with Ezra, the Vineyard Dog loyally by her side. Irene was a lifelong resident of Sugar Creek. She retired in 1981 with 38 years of service from the U.S. Post Office as Superintendent of the Mail Classification Center in Kansas City. In 1978 Irene was instrumental in forming the Paul J. Wrabec Company, Inc. and held the position of Chairman of the Board until her death. In 1997 Irene worked tirelessly in the development of the VinoGrad Vineyard and Winery. Irene was a member of St. Cyril’s Catholic Church and a charter member of the Croatian Catholic Union in Sugar Creek. Irene was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union. Irene was a proud Democrat and everything that the Democratic Party stood for. Irene was preceded in death by her parents Mate and Mandica Butkovich and her brothers Peter, Tom, Joseph, Mike and Anton. She is survived by her Son Paul and Grand children Danielle R.Wrabec, Cyril J. Wrabec J.D. and Josko Wrabec all of Sugar Creek. Irene also has two Grandsons, Corgon Thomas and Kruno Thomas and Ezra the Vineyard Dog. Irene may be gone but will never be forgotten. She made sure that her Family lived The Dream. Good Night Irene we will see you in our Dreams. A visitation will be held from 5-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31, at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. The Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, at St. Cyril’s Catholic Church, 11231 Chicago Avenue, Sugar Creek, MO.
