Edith Wright

Edith N. Wright, 90, of Independence, MO passed away Monday, March 8, 2004 at Park Place Care Center. Services will be 2 pm Friday, March 12th at the 4th Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints; with interment in Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 1 pm until service time at the Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to Crossroads Hospice. Edith was born October 10, 1913 in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, England to Robert and Susan Hammond. She worked as a lace maker and later made parachute material in England during WW II. She came to the United Sates in 1948 with her husband and children. She was a clerk with Bennion Bros. in Independence for several years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, John Thomas Wright in 1993. Edith is survived by her daughter, Christine Whitaker of Kansas City, MO; son, Colin Wright of Claremont, CA; grandchildren, Sarah Whitaker, and Campbell Wright; great grandchildren, Evan, Allison, Nicholas, and Sean.
