Melva Wright, 83, of Indep., MO passed away April 13, 2016. Visitation will be from 10am to 12 pm, Monday, April 18, 2016 at Mt. Washington Methodist Church, 584 S. Arlington, Indep., MO 64053. Funeral services will begin at 12 pm at the church. Burial will take place in Centerview Cemetery at 4 pm in Centerview, MO. Melva was born on October 12, 1932 in Centerview, MO to Cleo and Rose (Jackson) Shaw. After graduating high school, she married the love of her life, Calvin Wright. Together they moved to the Indep. area to begin their life together. Melva went to work for Montgomery Ward in the accounting department. She had a wonderful career at Wards, and made lifelong friends. Melva retired with over 40 years of service. Melva and Cal were longtime members of Mt. Washington Methodist Church, where Melva served as the treasurer for over 20 years. She enjoyed traveling, square dancing, and spending time with family. Melva was truly born with a servant’s heart. She always put others before herself, especially the elderly. Survivors include; her loving husband of 66 years, Calvin Wright; daughter Tammi Miller (Mark); grandchildren Karra Parman (Benjamin), Ryland Miller, Addisen Miller, Alivia Miller, Paul Hampton, Clint Helfers (Haydee) and Carrie Rust (Brett); 2 great grandchildren; sister Cleora Fox; brothers Ronnie Shaw (Wilma), Herb Shaw (Shirley), and Bob Shaw (Jo); special friends, many nieces & nephews, and a large extended family. Melva is preceded in death by her parents. In lieu or flowers contributions may be made to Mt. Washington Methodist Church or the Indep. Salvation Army.
