Velma Josephine Wright

April 14, 1916 — March 29, 2007

Velma Wright, 90, of Lee�s Summit, MO passed away on March 28, 2007 at her home. A memorial visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the chapel. Inurnment will be in the Mound Grove Cemetery Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the John Knox Village Hospice. Velma was born on April 14, 1916 in Holden, MO to Willie and Anna Sisk. She lived the majority of her life in Independence, MO after moving from Holden, MO in 1928. She was a member of the New Walnut Park Community of Christ, Order of the Eastern Star, Independence Music Club, Bingham Waggoner Historical Society and the Jackson County Historical Society. Velma was very well traveled. A highlight of her travels was one in which she and her husband Harold traveled around the world, literally. Velma will be dearly missed by her family which was her greatest passion of all. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold L. Wright in 1993. Velma is survived by one son, Dr. Ronald D. Wright of Leawood, KS; one daughter, Sharon K. Paul of Stanley, KS; one brother, Virgil Sisk of Holden, MO; four granddaughters; and 9 great grandchildren.
