Miriam C. Yale, 95, of Independence, MO passed away on April 17, 2005 at the Rosewood Health Center. A visitation will be held from 6-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 19, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the chapel. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery. Miriam was born November 13, 1909 in Ogden, Utah to Sadrack and Jennie Winholtz. She was baptized into the RLDS Church in 1921 at the age of 12 and a half. She married Alfred H. Yale on October 4, 1942 in Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by Alfred H. Yale in 1984; her father, Sadrack Winholtz in 1957; her mother Jennie Winholtz in 1970; and her grandson, Paul Lewis in 1986. Miriam worked at: Webster Dairy in Ogden, Utah with her father wrapping butter. She worked at the Vaile Mansion in 1938 as a Practical Nurse in Independence, MO. Miriam graduated from Ogden High School in 1928. She attended Graceland College in Lamoni, Iowa from 1928-1929. She attended the Independence Sanitarium and Hospital School of Nursing from 1928-1929. Miriam met her husband Alfred H. Yale while in nurses training and they were married October 4, 1942 in Dallas, TX. While in Dallas, during the depression, she would stand in line for hours just to get a package of gum for Alfred�s stomach when he worked at North American Aviation as a Salvage Inspector and had to test fly all repaired aircraft. Miriam faithfully supported her husband�s ministry while the family was under church appointment for the RLDS Church for 24 years. She raised their 3 daughters, often alone, while Alfred would spend as much as 6 weeks away from home in the mission field. She was very active in the RLDS Church: played the piano at home and church, taught Sunday School classes, taught Oriole and Skylark Leadership classes, has been Women�s Leader, She was director of the Girls Work at the Stone Church, Independence, MO, she sang in the Messiah Choir with her 3 daughters on Nov. 19, 1966. One of her most memorable times was to the Hawaiian Islands to give church ministry on Oct. 16, 1965. She also sewed and did embroidery work, and loved taking care of her children and husband. She loved church literature, and looked forward to receiving the Saints Herald, Tidings of Zion and the Restoration Witness. Miriam is survived by 3 daughters, Nancy Kwak of Indep, MO; Eleanor Lewis and husband Steve of Mesa, AZ; and Maxine Bailey and husband Lance of Tenino, WA; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; and many grandpets. Miriam was a very loved and special wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and great-aunt. Our mother and father raised us with a firm foundation in God and the original teachings of the RLDS Church. She said, "Despite our troubles, we love each other and are happy in preparing to serve our God.�
