Darrell E. Yokley, 91, of Independence, MO passed away December 2, 2013. A visitation will be held from 9-10:00 a.m. followed by a service at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 9, at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. Graveside services will be held at Floral Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Ascension Lutheran Church, 4900 Blue Ridge Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64133. Darrell was born May 13, 1922 in Kansas City, MO to Clarence and Estella Yokley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, serving in the South Pacific during WWII. In 1985, he retired from TWA, where he had worked for 24 years. After retirement, Darrell worked at Arts Billiard Supply in Independence, MO for 25 years. He was also a lifetime member of VFW Post 1219/1000. Darrell loved to travel, going to many places in and out of the country, spending the winter in California as well as working in his yard. Most of all, he loved being with his wife and family. Darrell was also a former member of Independence Avenue Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacon Board. He was currently an active member of Ascension Lutheran Church, Kansas City, MO. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents; as well as brothers, Ralph and Earl Yokley. He is survived by his loving wife Martha P. Yokley of the home; two sons, Pat Yokley and wife Jeanne, Claude Clardy and wife Charlene; one daughter, Martha Rosenberg and husband Phil; six grandchildren, Craig, Jennifer, Sean, Brian, Chad and Jeremy; eight great grandchildren, Cody, Philip, Connor, Amanda, Payton, Madeline, Patrick and Derek; brother-in-law’s, Don Jones and wife Dixie, Gary Jones; sister-in-law, Cheryl Deis and husband John; as well as many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the 5th floor nurse’s station at Centerpoint Medical Center for the care and dedication they gave to Darrell in his final days.
