Jody York, 46, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, July 29, 2018 after a brief battle with cancer. Respecting his wishes, cremation is planned with a celebration of his life to be held at 3pm on August 11, 2018 at Epic Church 19260 E. 50th Terr, Independence, MO, 64055.
Jody was born on August 5, 1971 in Kansas City, MO to Oliver and Vada (Kolie) York. He graduated from Blue Springs High School in 1990. Jody enjoyed playing pool and fantasy football, watching the Chiefs, attending car shows, and anything medieval. Most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids.
Although his time on earth was short, his memory will carry on in the lives of his wife Denise York of Independence, MO; daughter Allyssa York of Independence, MO; step-daughter Heather Thacker of Kansas City, MO; step-son J.D McPheeters and wife Dawn of Blue Springs, MO; mother Vada York of Blue Springs, MO; brother Gale York and wife Bobbi of Blue Springs, MO; sister Becky Hendrix and her children Devin & Brianna of Blue Springs, MO; half-brothers Daryl York and wife Rene of Raytown, MO, Randy York and wife Carla of Blue Springs, MO, and Jeff York of Florida; grandkids Brooke Phillips (Andrew), Treavor Thacker, Austin Grimes, Paige McPheeters, Cheyenne Grimes, Kendall, Colton & Cameron, and Baby J McPheeters, and Rosalie Miranda; great-grandkids Chance and Lincoln Phillips; plus many other extended family members and friends.
Jody was preceded in death by his father, Oliver and half-sister, Paula.
