Barbara Lee Young, 82, of Independence, MO passed away January 9, 2020 at Rosewood Health Center surrounded by many loved ones. She was born April 29, 1937 to David and Ethel Price in Kansas City, Missouri. She was a wife, a mother, a homemaker and babysitter for many years. She loved those years of babysitting and all of her families. She married Donnie Ray Young on May 19, 1956 at the Jackson County Courthouse. They spent 63 years together. She lost the love of her life less than a month before her passing. She loved the Lord and would drop whatever she was doing to pray for anyone at anytime. She loved all of her family so very much. She loved her neighbors, friends, as well as many of her caregivers. She loved to crochet, knit, cross stitch, quilt and sew. She loved to laugh, have fun and entertain. Barbara is survived by her three sons, Dennis Young (Vicki), Ryan Young (Amy) and Craig Young; her one daughter Donna Young Miller (Ronald), her nine grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and her sister Allene Wahl. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnie Young, her baby boy, Paul David, her mom Ethel Chunn, her dad David Price, her stepdad Edward Chunn and sister Shirley Crabtree. A visitation will be held from 1-2:00 p.m. followed by a 2:00 p.m. service on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. It will be led by Pastor Russel Thomas. The burial will be at the Oak Ridge Memory Gardens on Salisbury Road Independence, MO. A reception will follow at Susquehanna Assembly of God Church at 622 N. Jennings Rd. Independence, MO 64056. We would like to thank so many staff at the Groves that took such great care of her and loved her.
