Carrie was born on August 4th, 1955 in Inglewood, California and she was raised in Wichita, Kansas by her parents, Vern and Flossie Bokey.
Carrie was blessed with seven children but was a mother to everyone and was often referred to as the “Neighborhood Mom”. She was a free spirit, who truly believed in people. She was a very generous woman, who made sure everyone was okay. That didn’t change in 2017 when she was diagnosed with cancer, in her true fighting spirit she surpassed doctors’ expectations and lived her life to the fullest. She loved to travel and did so even in the past recent months. To say Carrie loved music would be an understatement. She loved rock and roll, country, all of it. Most of all Carrie loved her children and grandchildren, and she absolutely lived for them. She received no greater pleasure than being a mother and grandmother. Carrie will be so greatly missed, but the love and legacy she leaves to all who met her will never be gone. She will be with us in our stories, the songs we hear, the beauty of the earth around us and most of all, our hearts.
Carrie is survived by her children, Shane (Kellanie) Bokey, Jason Marvin, Jonathan (Christina) Marvin, Celena (Wayne) Wheeler, Brian (Ashley Pixler) Young, Tara Young-Xiloj, Jackie Young; grandchildren, Zachary (Liliana) Wheeler, Kristen Wheeler, Khloe Wheeler, Sophia Vicente, Alejandra Vicente, Gabriella Vicente, Kali Young, Jaden Xiloj, Jackson Xiloj, Jonathan Xiloj, Isabella Young; mother, Flossie Linscott; siblings John Bokey, Sue Bokey; sister in law, LouAnn Bokey; and many extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Vern Bokey; husband, Jon Young; and her son in law, Nicodemo Vicente.
