Age 89 passed away November 18th 2020. She was born Dorothy Mae Purdy October 15, 1931 in Lincoln Missouri. At the age of 20 she landed in Kansas City, and in 1955 she met her husband to be Cormielee Weaver Young who preceded her in death in 1999. They were married in June of 1956 and were blessed with 6 children 4 boys and 2 girls.
Dorothy loved life. She retired from the E K Campbell Company, in retirement she learned how to crochet and make lap robes for cancer patients. She liked to spend time reading the bible and doing puzzle books and was an avid lover of TV guide. Dorothy was a member of Tops (Take off pounds sensibly) for 22 years. Up until her later years she had a passion for eating out. Dorothy use to say that “Life is good” Dorothy was the perfect example of pure heart and a true example of what being a Christian is.
Dorothy is survived by 5 of her remaining children: Roy, Jerry, David, Pamela and Robert. She also is survived by 20 Grand Children and 26 Great Grand Children.
A visitation will be held on Monday, November 23, from 6-8:00 p.m. with a service the following day, Tuesday, November 24, at 10:00 a.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th. St in Independence, MO. Dorothy will be laid to rest at Mount Washington Cemetery next to her husband of 42 years.
