James R. Young, 91, of Independence, MO passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012. Services will be 2 pm, Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055; interment with Full Military Honors at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the Noland Road Baptist Church, 4505 S. Noland Road, Independence, MO 64055.
James was born near Greenfield in Dade County, MO. He graduated from Northeast High School in 1940. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army in France and Germany. He was employed by Luzier Inc., a cosmetics company and the Kansas City Police Department. He was a member of the Noland Road Baptist Church.
James was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-nine years, Alice Louise Young. He is survived by his sons Gary of Kansas City, and James of Columbia, South Carolina; his sisters Joyce Ernst and Carol Harless of Independence; two granddaughters Andria Massey and Corinne Morcha; and two great-granddaughters Halli and Morgan.
