Larry R. Young, 63, Kansas City MO, died Sunday, March 6, 2005, as the result of a motorcycle accident the previous day. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Thursday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO; burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-9:00 pm Wednesday at the Chapel with a Tribe of Mic-O-Say service at 8:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Special Olypmics of Missouri, One Lee Drive, Merriam, KS, 66202. Larry was born October 25, 1941 in Chillicothe, MO, to Floyd and Evelyn (Holmes) Young. Larry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was employed as a Supervisor for the City of Kansas City for 30 years, retiring in 1994. He had also served as an officer for the Raytown Police Department. Larry kept busy in his retirement and had been working for Professional Escorts providing funeral motorcycle escorts. Larry loved boating and fishing and spending time at the lake. He was involved with the Boy Scouts for over 22 years and was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say. He was a member of the Community of Christ and had attended the Ridgewood congregation for many years. Larry is survived by his wife of 34 years, Sandy Young, of the home; 2 sons, Larry Young, Jr., and Dennis Young and his wife Kristina, all of Kansas City, MO; his mother, Evelyn Dennis, Independence, MO; his brother, Floyd Young, Jr., and wife Mary Sue, Lee�s Summit, MO; 2 sisters, Dorothy Brokenicky and husband Jim, and Carol Clawson and husband Del, all of Lee�s Summit, MO; step-brother Ronnie Dennis, Lake of the Ozarks, MO; step-sister Patricia Glass, North Platte NE; and many other loving relatives and friends.
