Melody Sue Young

Melody Sue Young was born April 19, 1978 to Warren Young and Sue Huffman Young in Independence, Missouri. Melody was a 1996 graduate of Raytown High School where her favorite subject was chemistry, in which she excelled. She also played flute in the high school band. She was a year-round competitive swimmer for both Raytown and Independence swim teams (USS) and worked as a lifeguard at the YMCA. She took her love of chemistry to the University of Iowa where she graduated in 2003 as a Doctor of Pharmacy. As a pharmacist, she worked for Children's Mercy Hospital and Omnicare.
Her interests and hobbies included quilting, other sewing, reading, going to movies and live theater, traveling extensively, visiting zoos and botanical gardens, and nurturing her own flower gardens. She enjoyed going out to eat with her family, and helping people with their pharmaceutical needs. She happily sponsored several disadvantaged children through an international aid charity, impacting their lives for a healthy childhood and education.
Melody loved going to church, accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at age 8, and loved worship music.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sue Huffman Young, maternal grandparents W.l. and Betty Huffman, and paternal grandparents Paul and Mildred Young.
She is survived by her father, Warren Young and his partner, Wanda Dunlap of Independence, her loving sister, Evie Rein, and her husband, Jared Rein, and nieces Natasha and Skylar Rein of Heber City, Utah.
