Mabel L. Zeikle
Mabel L. Zeikle, 98, of Independence, Mo. Died April 3, 2006 at the Regency Care Center. Mrs. Zeikle will lie in state at the Speaks Suburban Chapel on Thursday from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. Services will be held at the Chapel on Thursday at 1:30 P.M. Private inurnment will be held at a later date in the Prairie Ridge Cemetery at Polo, MO. Mabel was born on September 12, 1907 the daughter of George W. and Rosa Ellen Slaybaugh Smoot. She attended Polo schools. Mrs. Zeikle worked for The Jones Store as a sales clerk for over 20 years, retiring in 1973. She enjoyed making afghans, crocheting and cooking. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Independence. She married Clarence B. Zeikle in Polo, MO. on June 17, 1925, he predeceased her on May 11, 1979. She was also predeceased by a son, Clarence C. "Zeke� Zeikle on February 25, 1984. Survivors include: two daughters; Elaine Welch and husband Carl of Lincoln, NE., Sharon Bertz of Lee�s Summit, MO.; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Zeikle of Independence; eight grandchildren; Pamela Olender of Independence, Mo., Debbie Everett, Sherri Michaud and Christy Killingsworth all of Lincoln, Ne., Charles Zeikle of Blue Springs, Mo., Todd Bertz of Kansas City, Mo., Cindy Hagan of Kansas City, Mo., and Erik Bertz of Pleasant Hill, Mo., Nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Crossroads Hospice, 8540 Blue Ridge Blvd., K.C. Mo. 64138.
