Gwendolyn Zellers

Gwen F. Zellers, 60, of Independence, MO, died Feb. 27, 2004 at St. Mary�s Hospital in Blue Springs, MO. Services will be 3 pm, Monday, March 1, 2004, at Walnut Gardens Community of Christ Church. Cremation. Visitation will be 1 - 3 pm, Monday at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Gwen Zellers I.N.E.A. Scholarship Fund, c/o School District of Independence Foundation, 218 N. Pleasant Street, Independence, MO 64050. Gwen was born May 18, 1943 in Independence to Franklin J. & Gladys M. (Dixon) Robinson. She earned her Bachelors Degree at Graceland College and later her Masters Degree at Central Missouri State University. She was an elementary education teacher for 26 years and taught most of those years in the Independence School District.
Gwen was President of I.N.E.A. for 3 years, and served on the I.N.E.A. Board of Directors for 6 years, President of the Missouri State N.E.A. Teaching and Learning Committee, a member of the N.C.A.T.E. Board of Examiners, and a Past President of Delta Kappa Gamma. She is survived by her husband, Craig A. Zellers, of the home; son, Andy J. Zellers, Columbia, MO; sisters, Ruth Burke and Vida Price, both of Independence, MO.
