Sig Zobans, 74, of Independence, MO passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017. A memorial visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00pm on Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. Inurnment will follow at Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville, MO.
Sig was born on January 28, 1943 in Riga, Latvia to Alexander and Zigrida (Eisa) Zobans. His family immigrated to the United States where he completed school and joined the United States Army. He earned a Bachelor’s from Michigan State University, where he also met his wife Sue Allison. Sig worked as a graphic artist for UMKC School of Medicine. In his spare time he loved to sculpt, paint fine art, play the fiddle, garden, and go bicycling. Most of all he loved to talk about the Lord with friends and family.
Sig will be remembered by his wife of 50 years, Sue Zobans of the home; two sisters Aria Voss and husband John of Pinconning, MI, and Guna Strickler and husband Charles of Walnut Creek, CA; plus several nieces, nephews and friends.
