Jimmie Dean Zurn, Sr., 79, passed away on September 26, 2014. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:30am Thursday, October 2, 2014, at Rock Brook Church, 1715 E 173rd St, Belton, MO 64012. A funeral service will begin at 10:30am Thursday at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at Bryant Cemetery.
Jimmie was born on August 5, 1935, son of Richard Zurn, in Fortuna, MO. He joined the Army and served bravely in both Vietnam and the Korean War. After retiring from his Master Sergeant position in the Army, he worked for and retired after many years from the City of Independence as a plumber.
His life was enriched by his large family and many friends. He was passionate about fishing and camping, and he couldn’t wait to eat dessert!
Jimmie is survived by his love of 55 years, Gertie (Behnke) Zurn; his twin brother, Arthur; his four children: Gary Zurn, Jimmie (Cindy) Zurn, Jr., Tina (Jason) Slover, and Dennis Zurn; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The family suggests contributions be made to Vitas Hospice of Kansas City, MO, in Jimmie’s memory.
