Are you wondering how you should go about shipping a loved one’s cremated remains following their cremation services in Grain Valley, MO? This guide will help.

Are you and your family going to need to ship a loved one’s cremated remains following their cremation services in Grain Valley, MO ? If you’ll have to do this, it’s going to be very important for you to go about doing it in the right way. You aren’t allowed to simply stick a person’s remains into any old box and ship it somewhere. There are some specific steps you’ll have to take to ensure your loved one’s remains arrive at their final destination safely. Here is how to properly ship a person’s cremated remains.

Plan to ship a loved one’s cremated remains through the United States Postal Service.

There are obviously lots of different shipping companies that you can use to ship things under normal circumstances. But when it comes to shipping a loved one’s cremated remains following their Grain Valley, MO cremation, you should always make it a point to ship them through the United States Postal Service. This is currently the only service that will accept cremated remains and ship them. If you get caught trying to use a different service to ship cremated remains, it could land you in a world of trouble.

Package up a loved one’s cremated remains in the proper way.

As we alluded to earlier, you can’t just package up a loved one’s cremated remains in any old way. You’ll need to start by sticking them into a sift-proof inner container that won’t allow your loved one’s remains to leak at any point. You’ll then need to place that container into an outer container that is as durable as it gets. You should also fill the outer container with cushioning material that will hold the inner container in place. Ideally, you should use one of the USPS Priority Mail shipping boxes supplied by the USPS.

Put the right labels on the outside of a box containing a loved one’s remains.

Once you have your loved one’s cremated remains all boxed up and almost ready to go, you’ll need to be sure to put the right labels on the outside of the outer container. More specifically, you’ll need to place Label 139 on this container to clearly indicate what is on the inside of the box. This label has the words “CREMATED REMAINS” right on it. You can obtain Label 139 from your local post office so that you can put it on the container.

Triple check the address that you’ll be shipping a loved one’s remains to.

The absolute last thing that you want to do is send a box filled with a loved one’s cremated remains to the wrong address. It could cause a lot of confusion, and in a worst-case scenario, it might even result in your loved one’s remains getting lost. It’s why you should check, double-check, and even triple-check the address of your loved one’s remains to make sure that it’s correct. As long as it is, you should then be able to sit back and leave it to the USPS to get your loved one’s remains to their destination safely.
