Are you considering cremation services in Grain Valley, MO for yourself? Or are you thinking about cremating a loved one sometime soon? Either way, you should make sure that you know what the cremation process is before you make a final decision. It’s the process that will be used to cremate your body or the body of a loved one when cremation is chosen. Let’s take a deep dive into the cremation process to see all of the different steps that are involved in it.

It begins with a person’s body being identified.

Before a Grain Valley, MO cremation can start, a crematory always needs to make sure that they properly identify a person’s body. Each crematory has a slightly different identification process, but it often involves checking and rechecking a person’s identity before starting their cremation. It also involves gaining the proper authorization from a person’s family to ensure that a cremation is still what the family wants. Then and only then will a crematory move on to getting a person’s body ready for their cremation.

It involves preparing a person’s body for cremation.

Once a person’s body has been properly identified, the next thing that will happen is that a crematory will prepare their body for their cremation. To do this, they will take off any jewelry that they’re wearing and remove any medical devices from their body. They will also put them into whatever clothes their family picked out and then place their body into a combustible cremation container. This will guarantee that their body is all ready to go once their cremation begins.

It includes the actual cremation itself.

When a person’s body is prepared for their cremation, it will be placed into a cremation chamber. That cremation chamber will then get warmed up until it reaches somewhere between 1,400 and 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. From there, the only thing that will be left for a crematory to do is to sit and wait for a person’s cremation to be complete. It’ll usually take anywhere from 1 to 3 hours for a person’s cremation to play out depending on the temperature in the cremation chamber and the size of their body. Their cremation will continue for as long as it takes to reduce their body down to a pile of cremated remains.

It ends with a person’s cremated remains being processed.

After a person’s cremation is complete, a crematory will take their cremated remains and process them. During this, they will remove any tiny bits of metal that might have founded their way into a person’s remains. They will also grind their remains up to make them smaller. Once this is done, they’ll place the remains into a container or an urn and give it back to a person’s family. Their cremation process will officially be over and done with.
